This free workshop will provide entry level awareness and education for consumers on patient advocacy.
After completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1) Understand what patient safety is and its importance.
2) Identify who could or should not be an advocate.
3) Learn the duties, responsibliities, and barriers for a patient advocate.
4) Identify hospital staff and their primary duties to patients.
5) Learn how to properly communicate and partner with the healthcare team.
6) Learn what shared decision making is and patient centeredness.
7) Learn what to do if you have a concern (staff member, hospital, insurance)
8) Discuss the culture of less blame and more solutions...Partner not Panic.
9) Learn how to use the Patient Medical Journal
